The year approximately ??? AD. In a large meadow near the Rhein river, and south of Cologne a battle rages.

Scene 1.1 The Battle

The opening scene is the battle beginning.
There are catapults, horseman, and archers also involved in this battle.
Their goal is to take back the Duke's castle from the Saxons who are holding the Duke, and his family for ransom.
A horseman in the battle, and the future father of Serihilde (Fireosity) is named Ségán (SHEE-an) from the village of Welby.
As the battle rages on, a violent storm comes, and heavy rains begin to mingle with the blood on the batlefield.
The mud makes it even more difficult to fight, and also hinders the horses.
Ségán being a horseman also, get off his mount, and engages the enemy Saxon on foot.
Suddenly Ségán feels the point of an enemy sword piercing him in the side, and falls to the ground.
As the battle ends, Alfred his comrade, leans over him checking to see if Ségán is still alive.
Ségán asks Alfred if they were victorious, and Alfred replies "Yes, we drove the Saxon back to their dark hole once again, and the castle has been returned to the Duke" he then adds "It is time you go home my friend. Your days on the field of honor are now over".
After Alfred helps Ségán atop his horse, Ségán heads for his home, but can not complete the jouney.

Scene 1.2 Journey Home

Ségán stops by a stream to rest, and falls from his horse.
He pulls himself up by the horse's reigns, and after some farewells to his loyal friend, he sets the horse free.
He then sits down by a tree, where he falls into a deep sleep.
He is awakened by someone touching him.
At first he is startled and reaches for his knife, but hears a soft voice telling him to calm himself..
As his vision focuses, he sees it is a young woman with piercing green eyes tending his wounds.
She introduces herself as Chriselda, from the village of Alder.
She also introduces her cousin Friedrich and his wife Ginette who are along with her.
She then asks "And you are who, young soldier?"
He replies "I am Ségán, son of Manfrit and Orlantha"
She tells him if the wound would have been maybe one finger lower, she and her cousin would be digging his grave.
Ségán watches her dress his wound and immediately falls for her, but avoids showing it.
She tells Friedrich to go back to their village, and get the cart.Upon Friedrich's return, they put Ségán into the cart, and take him back to their village
There they put him into a bed of fine linen at Chriselda's cabin.

Scene 1.3 Chriselda's Cabin

She tends to his wounds each day, and feeds him soup until he is better.
During this time he falls more for her each day .
One day he decides to trick her.
He pretends to have something in his eye, and asks her to look and maybe remove it.
He claims that maybe a cinder from a catapult's fireball got in it.
As she takes a closer look, he steals a kiss from her on her cheek.
Immediately she slaps him, warning that if he tries that again, the next full moon she will feed him to the wolves.
After Chriselda leaves the room however, a glowing smile is on a her face as she touches her cheek.

Begin: Scene Series Two Script

Time has passed, and Ségán is now much better and able to get about.
The friendship between Chriselda and Ségán has now deepened more with each passing day.
Sharing stories and laughter, and the occasional gaze into each other's eyes.
This foretells that it will only be a matter of time until they would become as one.

Scene 2.1 The Woods

One afternoon they decide to take a walk down the small trail leading into the woods behind Chriselda's cabin.
In a clearing, Ségán points and says one day he will build a new cabin there.Chriselda laughs at him saying, "How will you do this alone?".
Ségán replies "I can do this, my father was a builder and I worked at his side many times, and with all this timber about, it would be quite simple".
Ségán then adds "And I will, as soon as I have returned from my own village to see my Father, my other family, and my friends".
A sadden look is now upon Chriselda's face. She tells Ségán that his village and it's people no longer exsists.
He stares at her with a puzzled look and asks why she would say such a thing? She replies "The Cathars came one night, and burnt your village to the ground. No one survived Ségán, I am so very sorry".
Ségán now is deeply saddened because he knows his family and friends are all gone forever, and he thinks if he had not been to the North fighting the Saxon his sword would have been of better service in his own village.
He then curses under his breath and says "There is only one thing I despise more than the Saxon, and that is the leeching Cathars" then adds "At least the Saxon kill for profit, and not for the sake of their God".
He then tells Chriselda in a quieted voice "Then I guess I should get started on this cabin".
She softly smiles at him touching his shoulder, and tells him "If this is your wish, then you should fulfill it".
Ségán sighs, looks around, and realizes he has no cutting tool to down the trees.Chriselda seeing his dilemma, laughs at him again, and tells him "No need to worry there are plenty of tools in the village, but I must warn you..well never mind you will see".
Ségán looks at her puzzled and asks "See what?".
Chriselda does not answer him, and only smiles.
They then walk back to the village as the sun is going down, they have dinner together in a bit of silence because Ségán still is thinking of his lost home, and family.
Ségán bids Chriselda good night, gives her a quick kiss on her cheek, and then retires to his room.

Scene 2.1 The Farmer's Barn

The next morning Ségán goes to find his cutting tool.
Down the east road he sees an axe leaning against a farmer's barn.
He asks the farmer if he may borrow it, and the farmer replies "Of course, what do you plan to do?".
Ségán replies "I am building a cabin in the clearing about 40 stones away from the village".
The farmer laughs out loud and says " Alone?".
Ségán replies "Why yes, how else can I do it?".
The farmer pauses then adds "Ah ya, you are the young soldier Ségán that Chriselda found by the brook. We have all heard about you. I wonder about that girl sometimes. She is always bringing some sort of stray, but this is the first time with only 2 legs" the farmer then roars with laughter at his previous joke.
The farmer replies "Anyhow, good luck to you my friend", and returns to his work.
Ségán exits the barn wondering why people are so amused with someone building a cabin, he heads back west, and down the small path to the clearing.
